Samsung Moment™ smartphone named CTIA Best in Show

The Samsung Moment™, the Samsung I8530 Projector Phone and the Samsung 3G Ubicell are winners of the CTIA Emerging Technologies (E-Tech) Award at CTIA WIRELESS 2010. Winners were announced yesterday at the Emerging Technology awards ceremony in the Las Vegas Convention Center. The CTIA E-Tech Awards program is designed to give industry recognition and exposure to the best wireless products and services in the areas of consumer, enterprise and network technology. More than 300 entries were submitted and reviewed by a panel of recognized members of the media, industry analysts and technology experts. Products in 15 categories covering the areas of mobile CE, applications, enterprise, green solutions, luxury mobile and network infrastructure were judged on innovation, functionality, vision, technological importance and implementation.
At the show, attendees were able to browse entries showcased in the E-Tech Awards display on the show floor and voted for their favorites via text message, naming the Samsung Moment, Best in Show. The Moment represents a new generation of portable Internet access complete with built-in Google mobile services. The Moment also includes a 3.2-inch AMOLED touch-screen, creating a thinner form factor, crisper colors and wider viewing angles than other display screens. The Moment is powered by an 800 Mhz processor, making this device one of the fastest available in the market. It was recently selected as the first mobile phone to demonstrate Mobile Digital TV in a showcase in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore markets during the first quarter of 2010. This is the first ever consumer showcase of this technology.
The judges selected the Samsung I8530 as the 1st place recipient in the Mobile CE Phone/Smartphone category. The I8530 is a full-featured Android smart phone embedded with a pico projector that removes the limitations of the mobile phone screen by providing a “big picture” viewing experience for sharing pictures, watching videos, playing games, viewing e-mail attachments and even giving presentations. Content can instantly be projected whether it is stored on or streamed to the phone. Featuring a lightweight and compact design, the I8530 can display images in excess of 60 inches depending on ambient light conditions.
